Partial dentures are a cost-effective way to restore limited function and appearance to the wearer. It is more often used as a temporary or short term solution while waiting for a more definitive treatment option such as a cobalt-chrome (metal partial denture) or implant retained restorations. Despite the “ideal” recommendations, a large portion of the denture wearers often get comfortable with their plastic partial dentures and don’t bother getting them redone. Of course there are advantages and disadvantages.
Acrylic partial denture:
Pros: Lower cost Quicker completion time Easier to add/repair
Cons: Weak/breaks easily Can traumatize adjacent gums Less hygienic Bulky
Before we can make you a partial denture, we will write a Certificate of Oral Health for you to make an appointment with your dentist. Once the dentist has done a routine examination and completed the certificate, we can proceed with the instructions based on the treatment plan.
